Huge shout-out to our students, staff, and families for your support of the March Attendance Madness. We were able to have wonderful attendance throughout the month and had some fun as well. Let’s continue to do our best after Spring Break. Again, thank you to all who helped with our WFC fundraiser. We beat our goal of 300 boxes and sold 367 boxes! Farm Bureau volunteers Katie Pedigo and Suzanne Cecil from Cecil Farms celebrated Ag week in the 3rd grade classes today by reading an ag book called "The Soil in Jackie's Garden." We loved having them share their love for agriculture today!

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the WLES community and staff for your support these past 14 years. As some of you know, I am retiring at the end of this school year and the new principal will be announced shortly. I have truly loved my time at WLES and I look forward to supporting the next principal at our great school. In addition, I wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to the WLES community for your assistance with the World's Finest Chocolate Fundraiser. Due to your support, it has been a great success. Mrs. Williams fifth grade ELA class is currently conducting research on athletes who have created social change throughout history. Students are utilizing both technology and creativity to create group presentations showcasing how athletes like the great Jackie Robinson have created positive change despite adversity. These students are doing an amazing job!

March truly came in like a lion with the wild weather changes and all of the activities going on at WLES. Also, the Someone Special Dance is tonight and we are looking forward to having a great time with our families. We only have 9 weeks left in the school year and the time is flying by. SAVE THE DATE! DCPS Online Registration for the 2025-2026 school year begins on Monday, March 10. This includes Pre-K and Kindergarten registration. For new parents/students: Visit your child's school to begin registering for the next school year. We are already at the end of February. This year is flying by. Parents, we want you to know about a couple of exciting events coming in the near future. Our PTO will begin our annual World's Finest Chocolate Fundraiser on Monday. Also, our Someone Special dance is scheduled for Friday, March 7. Join us for a fun-filled evening at our Sock Hop on March 7th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM! 🕺💃 We'll have: 🎧 Music with DJ Basham spinning the best tunes! 📸 A fun Selfie Station to capture your memories! 🧁 Delicious cupcakes & refreshments! Feel free to wear your best 50's attire or whatever makes you feel comfortable. No need to go out and buy anything special! We just want everyone to have a great time and enjoy the evening together as a community. ❤️ Mark your calendars and get ready to dance, laugh, and make lasting memories with your family and friends! 🏫✨ Please limit one guest per student!

Just a reminder that we are celebrating Kindness Month and we are looking for students showing kindness to each other. A couple of reminders------- *NO SCHOOL on MONDAY, FEBRUARYT 17th. *Due to the potential of winter weather early next week, the district has made the decision to go ahead and send chromebooks and chargers home with students today. *Spring Picture Day is February 27th, as well as 5th grade graduation pictures. If you have already ordered on-line or sent your money in, you are good to go. Nothing changed on the new order forms sent home except the date.
