Thank you all for an amazing first 14 days of the school year! The students are doing so great at getting back into the routine of school and they are working hard to earn Pawsitive Performers. MAP testing is going well and we are pleased with the results so far. We apologize for the inconvenience of picture day being canceled, unfortunately even the photographers get the school germs. We have rescheduled picture day for September 29th. We also have Book Fair and Grandparent’s Week coming up soon, so be on the lookout for that information. Remember that we have Monday off for Labor Day, so I hope you all enjoy your extended weekend with your families!

Happy Friday! It looks like there is a fabulous weekend ahead to get outside and enjoy some fresh air! My family will be heading over to the Frog Follies Car Show in Evansville to check out some neat historic cars and trucks. Our first 9 days of school have been amazing with our first Monday Meeting taking place. we are going to celebrate birthdays each week on Mondays in the gym and then students will be celebrated in their classrooms as well. For our Positive performers, we are celebrating them daily in the office, displaying their pictures on the TVs in the front lobby and posting them on the school facebook page. If you don’t already follow our school, make sure to like and follow so you don’t miss out on the exciting moments happening at wles! next week we will begin map testing, so please make sure your child comes to school well rested and ready to try their very best. We use these results to help us focus on student needs, create small groups, and identify our high achieving students. please help us by encouraging your child to take their time, work hard, and show us what they really know! The Cross Country Parent interest meeting at Burns Middle School for tonight has been RESCHEDULE to Monday at 5:15.

I wanted to start my last principal message with a huge thank you to the WLES community for the years of support. WLES is a special place, and our families and community are so important to our success. Also, I wanted to thank our students and staff for all the hard work they gave during the state assessments this year. Our kids worked so hard, and I could not be prouder of them! It has been an incredible week at WLES! Our students worked very hard on the KSA test and lived up to our motto of Doing our Best, Strive for Success!! Also, HUGE shout out to the PTO and community for your support of the WLES staff. We feel much appreciated by your efforts and we value your support. Ms. Manqueros ' class had a wonderful time today learningabout THE KY DERBY. They made beautiful hats and even had a quick race. Be sure to ask your student which horse won!

We are excited about starting our year-end testing next week. Please be sure to review the testing schedule so you know when your child will be testing. Students are ready to show all they know on the KSA test. Also, thank you for your support of the Spring Showcase; it was a great time for all. Only 12 school days left, and we are packed full of year-end activities. Have a great weekend, and we look forward to knocking out the test next week!

We have had another great week and are excited about the end of the school year. Several events are coming this week including our annual Book Fair, 3/4/5 Spring Showcase on Tuesday, and then our spring semester students of the month trip. Also, our students have started their spring MAP testing and are preparing for the KSA which begins on Friday. Please see the attached testing schedule for when students will be taking KSA tests.
