It can be tough getting back into the swing of things after ten full days off, but our students and staff have officially wrapped up their first week back from Fall Break., and boy, did they work hard! Grit was on high display each and every day!

Afternoon, EV Families!
We celebrated BIG at East View today! KSA state assessment scores were released over Fall Break and EV received a "GREEN" rating! 2 improvement colors from 2025 AND second color rating from the top! We had academic growth across ALL 5 subject areas and our Culture Survey!
So... we started the morning sharing this news with all students and staff in our Monday Morning Meeting! Each student also received a new dog tag "I lead and learn in a green school!", green brain squishy, green positive affirmation lunch bag, and green ice cream! We have also decorated our halls in green for the school year! We are so very proud of our school's growth and academic achievement!
We can! We will! We did! 💪💚💛

Bowling for the W.I.G. (Wildly Important Goal)! 🎳
East View Shining Suns had an absolute blast at the bowling alley today! Our amazing students earned this trip by meeting and exceeding our 1st 9 weeks, school-wide behavior goal for having Compassion, Grit, Integrity, and Self-Control!

Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is the LAST day for Running Club practice and Tuesday is the LAST East DC race! If you would like your Kindergarten ~ 5th grade student to attend, simply make the change in PikMyKid for that day's practice. In PikMyKid, you will choose "Afterschool", and below that, the "Running Club" option.
Running Club will end at 3:15 pm.
We will dismiss through the PM car rider line at the playground entrance!

It truly takes a village to keep our Shining Suns supported, loved, and encouraged every single day. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out and made this week so memorable!

Our school was buzzing this week! From special events to student leadership, our staff and students kept instruction front and center while bringing our DCPS Portrait of a Learner "Problem Solver" to life. Seeing our students display true GRIT around every corner proves that we CAN and we WILL! 💪💚💛
Next week is also full of fun! We are so excited to host our Grandparents’ Luncheons and welcome our amazing families! Don't forget to visit Mrs. Rohleder at the "Grand Event" Book Fair! This week’s preview already has everyone eager to read! Lastly, SONshine Night is Thursday at Reid's Orchard! We can’t wait to celebrate, connect, and make wonderful memories together!

Special SHOUT OUT to the Daviess County Sheriff's Office for taking the time to visit our school and invest in our male students this week!
Deputies spent time speaking with Mr. Michael's M.E.N. of Tomorrow group ~ a program dedicated to empowering our young male students through the core values of Motivation, Excellence, and Nobility.
The deputies gave our students an exciting and educational demonstration on K-9 dog safety with their dog, Cash. Our students learned how working dogs assist law enforcement and ensure safety!
The Shining Suns Family is grateful for our strong partnership with the Daviess County Sheriff's Office and their dedication to mentoring, educating, and protecting our young leaders!
