July 23, 2024 Deer Park Families, Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are thrilled to embark on another exciting journey of learning and growth with you and your children. Our theme for this year is “We Will Move Mountains”. At Deer Park Elementary, we believe that education is a journey filled with challenges and triumphs, much like climbing a mountain. This year, our students and staff will be working hard to reach their goals, supporting each other every step of the way. What to Expect Nurturing Environment: When guests visit our building they almost always comment on the family-like atmosphere. Relationships with our students and families are of utmost importance to us at Deer Park. Academic Excellence: Our dedicated teachers have been preparing all summer to provide your children with engaging and rigorous educational experiences. We are committed to helping every student reach their full potential and achieve academic success. Character Building: Just as climbers need perseverance and resilience to reach the summit, we will be focusing on building strong character traits in our students. This includes fostering respect, responsibility, and teamwork. Community Involvement: We recognize that a strong school community is essential for success. We encourage you to get involved in school activities, join our parent-teacher organization, and participate in events throughout the year. Goals and Achievements: Throughout the year, we will set individual and collective goals, celebrating each milestone as we progress. Whether it's improving attendance, enhancing academic performance, or contributing to our community, every step forward is a victory. Important Dates: First Day of School: Wednesday, August 7th doors open at 7:00am; tardy at 7:41am Back-to-School Night: Monday, August 5th 5:30-7:00pm Orientation Night: week of August 19th-23rd; dates and times will follow Please mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information about these and other exciting events. Communication: We believe in the power of open communication. Our teachers and staff are always here to support you and your children. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. The fastest and easiest means is through the TalkingPoints app or email. Together, we can make this school year one of the best yet. As we prepare to scale new heights, we are confident that with your support, our students will thrive. Let’s make this year memorable and successful as we reach the summit together. It is a Deer Park tradition for teachers to mail students a postcard welcoming them to their classroom and students, therefore, finding out whose Homeroom they will be in for the upcoming school year. We’re sticking with that tradition and post cards will be mailed out at the end of this week. If you did not complete OLR, your student wasn’t placed on a roster and will not receive a postcard, so please call the office to complete registration. Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication to your child’s education. We look forward to seeing you soon and working together to achieve great things. Warm regards, Kristin Atwell Principal Deer Park Elementary
