The DCPS Board of Education has approved an instructional calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. Families are reminded to avoid potential make-up days when scheduling vacations etc.


AHS and DCHS Student Councils are proud to present this year's DCPS 12 Days of Christmas! All schools are encouraged to participate to help spread holiday cheer leading up to Christmas Break.


Last week, students from Apollo and Daviess County High who are in the academic career exploration program at the HBCU showcase in Louisville KY. Students participated in various breakouts ranging from ACT Test Prep, and the HBCU experience to the Kentucky Scholars program. In addition, students could talk with college representatives from nearly 20 HBCU's including fraternities and sororities.

For Permanent District Substitute status with an earned Bachelor's Degree is $130 per day with benefits included.
For Permanent District Substitute status with 64 college credits or more without an earned Bachelor's Degree is $120 per day with benefits included.

The Juntos program began prior to Fall Break for our high school Latino students with a goal to increase parental involvement and promote access to higher education. The next Juntos evening will be tomorrow from 5:30-7:15 PM at the Owensboro
Museum of Science and History. Food and childcare will be provided as the topic of the evening is Post-Secondary Options.



Congratulations to Sorgho Elementary for receiving the Purple Star Award during their Veterans Day program today. They are 1 in 72 schools in the Commonwealth of Kentucky that have earned this award.
The Purple Star Award designation recognizes schools that show a major commitment to serving military-connected students and families. This award speaks directly to the amazing administrative staff and teachers at the school who go out of their way to serve military families.



The results are in for the Kentucky Thespian Festival for Apollo and DC.
DC results are:
Raylee Brubaker was recognized as an all-state Thespian.
Nathan Goins served as a state officer and helped plan the event.
Katie Kenny and Elaina Norton received superior ratings for their Musical Theater performances.
Apollo results are:
Isaac Hay finished out his duties as a State Officer and was named as an All Star Thespian. Several students received excellent ratings on their Thespy competition pieces.
Richmond Holinde received a superior rating and was awarded a $20,000 theatre scholarship from Kentucky Wesleyan College.
Xander Berry was named as a new State Officer.



As a reminder, DCPS schools will be closed tomorrow November 7 for Election Day!

DCPS Family Resource and Youth Centers are entering their Season of Giving. Each of our buildings are taking a variety of donations during the holiday season. If you are interested in donating, reach out to the school's FRYSC coordinator.




DCPS schools will be closed for Fall Break Monday, October 9 - Friday, October 13. We hope everyone has a great restful week and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, October 16.


This Saturday, September 30, the Daviess County High School Marching Band will host their Fall Spectacular competition at Reid Stadium. The show begins at 6 PM with the first band performance at 6:45 PM. Tickets are $10.
This will be a great evening of student performances by both Apollo High School Marching Eagles and the DCHS Band of Pride.
