Congratulations to our Habit Heroes for Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood! These students get a Habit Hero Luncheon today!!

Preschool and Kindergarten registration is scheduled from March 11-22! To learn more how you can register your child, Go to www.dcps.org, click on "Pre-K and K 2024-2025 Registration" in the News Section. We can't wait to have your child join the DCPS family next year.

We have 1 week remaining for our Kids Heart Challenge fundraiser. A new flyer is going home in case you've misplaced the original one, so you can scan the QR code, find our school, and continue to raise money for kids with sick hearts, see the prizes, and how much our school has already raised. We are at 23% of our goal...$717.38 and our goal is $3200. Prizes: 1) Raise $5 and get to sign the KHC banner that will hang in the gym 2) Raise $100 and get to come to an ice cream party from me. 3) Raise $100 and get entered into a drawing to win an avocado warmie 4) Complete Finn's Mission and earn a ball and get entered into a drawing for a chance to win 2 tickets to next year's Super Bowl 5) For every 18 students that complete Finn's Mission, our school gets entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $10,000 fitness equipment makeover 6) Top student fundraiser gets the gym named after them for the year 7) Top boy & girl fundraisers will get to be the P.E. Teacher for the Day (each having their own day) 8) Top fundraising class earns their teacher a $25 Amazon Gift Card 9) Top 3 fundraisers get an avocado warmie 10) Sorgho reaches their goal of $3200, Miss Clayton will do something crazy fun! Last Friday, our PE teacher Ms. Clayton did a Bike Safety Rodeo for our 4th and 5th graders! Students had a blast learning about bike safety and all the health benefits riding a bike can have! Thank you Ms. Clayton! The kids had fun! #wearesorgho #sorghowildcats

DCPS schools will be in session on Monday, February 19. This is serving as Makeup Day 1.

This week our school kicked off this year’s Kids Heart Challenge! Alongside this year’s heart heroes, we’re learning about healthy hearts and life lessons like getting active, asking for help, resting well and being kind. BONUS: your student will get a free wristband for joining at www.heart.org/schools Step 1: Find your child's school by selecting grade level, state and type in school name - then hit search. Or if you have already registered Step 2: You should see your child's school - click on the Sign Up button Step 3: Continue registering by entering username and password Once you’re on the team, be sure to complete Finn’s Mission. That’s where you’ll learn the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR, which when given immediately can double (even triple) a person’s chance of surviving cardiac arrest. Other missions will help you raise funds for kids with special hearts and learn the warning signs of a stroke. As always, our students will have the opportunity to earn thank-you gifts for themselves and funds and equipment for our school. Join us today!

Yesterday our 2nd and 3rd graders did a FABULOUS job with their music performance, "Hats!" It was fun for the students singing and for the audience watching! #wearesorgho #sorghowildcats
