Today Sorgho Elementary was awarded with the Purple Star. It was a great honor to be recognized during today's Veteran's Day assembly! The Purple Star Award recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation's military. Sorgho is now one of only 72 schools in Kentucky to have received this award.

Last week we wrapped up Red Ribbon Week at Sorgho by "Socking it to Drugs!" Lots of fun was had during each grade levels 1950's Sock Hop Dance in the gym! Before we danced, kids learned about how smoking & drugs can be harmful to your body. These dress up days are fun, but it sparks the conversation of "Why are you dressed like that today?" Because of our crazy dress up days we get to have those conversations about being drug free! More pictures to come and be added to this post from the week!
