For the past six weeks, BMS students have participated in the Brainrot Reading Challenge. Seventy-eight students completed the challenge by reading 600 or more minutes. Of those students, the winner of the Skibidi Toilet raffle was sixth-grader Lennox Williams. The top homeroom and winner of the Benny Trophy was once again Mrs. Thomas's homeroom. And the top grade level, with 64,211 minutes was...sixth grade!

Jaxton Howard finished 8th place representing Apollo High School in the KHSAA Boys State Wrestling tournament. Jaxton finished the day going 3-3 and ends the season with a 39-4 record. Congratulations Jaxton on a great season!

Our 2025-2026 speech season has come to an end with the Junior State Speech competition this weekend. With two tournaments cancelled due to snow, they only had a few opportunities to compete for feedback, but they showed up and represented DCPS! Competing against 29 schools from across the state, BMS tied for 14th and received a "School of Distinction" Award for our teams' success. With this only being our 2nd year having a team, this is a major achievement! -Aristotle Brown & Kasen Shown are among the top 12 in the state for Broadcasting -London Wright & Addison Cooper made it to quarterfinals in improvisational duo placing them in the top 24 in the State -London Wright & Amelia Anderson advanced to finals and placed 6th in the state for duo acting -Nate Miller, Kaisen Ray, & Brentley Berry all contributed to our overall team total in their events of Impromptu Speaking & Broadcasting Some of these students competed in 6 rounds of competition in a 24 hour period and still showed what it means to be a FOX! Regardless of placements, all of these students have developed life skills and confidence that will carry with them throughout their lives. My hope is to continue to grow this program at BMS, but also at the high school level. The arts matter, speaking matters, student voice matters, and it's vital we continue to instill these skills in the future generations. Go Foxes!
