New MLES Principal

Kendal Quinton has been named principal at Meadow Lands Elementary School. The announcement was made yesterday prior to a reception to welcome her to her new role. She will begin her new role July 1.

Quinton began her educational career in 2010 in Daviess County Schools as a Special Education Teacher, splitting her time between Highland and Meadow Lands Elementary. For the next eight years, she spent her time at Highland Elementary as an elementary classroom teacher. In 2018, Quinton transitioned to a new role of Instructional Coach while continuing to serve the students of Highland Elementary. For four years, Ms. Quinton served on the leadership team of Highland Elementary, facilitating PLC meetings and school-level professional learning on curriculum, instructional strategies, and interventions. She was also responsible for coaching educators in all areas, including classroom management, instruction, and content areas, to improve student outcomes in core subjects.

Quinton is currently serving as the Assistant Principal at Meadow Lands, a position she has held for the last four years. In this role, she has supervised the school’s teaching and learning. She has worked to maintain an effective learning climate in the school, including evaluating and supervising the instructional processes, as well as overseeing the implementation of school-wide curricula. Other responsibilities have included establishing guidelines for proper student conduct through the Positive Behavior Intervention System; planning, organizing, and implementing school activities; and implementing and supervising special education programs.

Quinton holds two Master’s Degrees, one from Western Kentucky University for her Principal Certification, graduating in 2021, and another from the University of the Cumberlands for Teacher Leadership in 2013. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and Elementary Education from Brescia University in 2009.

Quinton said the following about her selection as the new instructional leader at MLES, “Being chosen to lead Meadow Lands Elementary School is such an honor. Meadow Lands has the best students, staff, and families, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve this school community.”

Quinton said her goals are, “As principal, I am committed to building upon the tradition and legacy left by the current principal, Mr. Lowe. My goals are to build upon our strengths of academic rigor and excellence, create and maintain a positive school culture where students feel safe and supported, and develop a strong school community that works together to benefit all students."

DCPS assistant superintendent for human services Dr. April Devine said, “Daviess County Public Schools has established a collaborative, thoughtful, and rigorous process for selecting school principals. We were fortunate to have an exceptional pool of candidates for Meadow Lands Elementary. Through surveys and feedback sessions, Meadow Lands stakeholders expressed a desire for a student-centered leader who acts with integrity, communicates effectively, and is committed to maintaining the school’s strong and positive culture. We are thrilled to introduce Kendal Quinton as the next principal of Meadow Lands Elementary. Ms. Quinton is a dedicated advocate for students and a passionate champion of equity and excellence. She brings a wealth of experience, a deep commitment to the school community, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every student.
