Late last week, with the management and assistance, throughout the entire RFP process, of the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, KDE signed the contract with Education Networks of America (ENA, Education Networks of America: ENA by Zayo) as KY K-12’s prime contractor for our KY K-12 Internet Services for 2023-2033. ENA is a different prime contractor than what we currently have through our Kentucky Information Highway (KIH3) contract. We’ll be using the next ~16 months to prepare for and gradually execute a transition of the KDE Hub Internet services for all 171 districts along with KDE, KSB and KSD from the existing KIH3 service provider to the NGKI network service provider before the expiration of the KIH3 contract on June 30, 2024. The existing KIH3 contract got extended from 1 July 2023 to 1 July 2024.
