Early College Academy applications now open
Daviess County Public Schools will begin accepting applications for their Early College Academy on Monday, Feb. 1. Current high school sophomores who meet eligibility requirements are invited to apply for the two-year associate degree program.
Applications are available HERE and will be accepted until March 12 for classes to begin in the fall.
DCPS college and career readiness coordinator Amanda Jerome said the Early College Academy, which opened in 2016, continues to grow in popularity. “Since May 2018, more than 100 DCPS students have graduated with their high school diploma and an associates degree,” she said. “Another 56 students will graduate with both a diploma and a degree this year, which is very exciting to all of us who are involved in this academy. Each year, we see an increase in the number of students expressing interest in the Early College Academy. These students recognize Early College Academy as the right path for them as they finish high school and begin their college experience.”
Early College Academy is open to students who are in good academic standing at their high school. Students must be on track for high school graduation with a grade point average of 3.25 or higher. Students enrolled in this academy carry a rigorous course load at Owensboro Community and Technical College and are expected to graduate with both their high school diploma and an associate’s degree.
Acceptance letters will be mailed beginning the week of March 22. Early College registration for those accepted will take place in April and May via virtual conference with their advisor. Participants will register for a time slot after receiving a letter of acceptance.
