Kentucky's preschool education programs are available for all 4-year-old children whose family income is no more than 160% of poverty; all 3- and 4-year-old children with educational developmental delays and disabilities, regardless of income; and other 4-year-old children as placements are available based on district decision.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for At-Risk Program:
- For income-eligible: Child must be 4 on or before Aug. 1 of the current year.
- Must be income-eligible according to state guidelines (current at or below 160% poverty level).
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for Disability Program:
- For disability consideration, the child must be age 3 or 4 with an educationally diagnosed delay or disability.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for Fee-based Program:
- If your child isn't eligible (due to income or having a delay), we also offer fee-based programs at 11 of our elementary schools (Audubon, Burns, Country Heights, Deer Park, Highland, Meadow Lands, Sorgho, Southern Oaks, Tamarack, West Louisville and Whitesville). There are 3 options to pay as follows: Option #1- $200.00 per month for 10 months, Option #2($25.00 discount)-$975.00 per semester due in August and January, Option #3- $1,950.00($50 discount) for the full year paid by August 1st. There is also a multi-child discount of 12.5% for families with multiple children enrolled in the fee based program. Must be 3 or 4 years old by August 1st.
Head Start is offered to children who will be 3 years old on or before Aug. 1 and who meet Head Start eligibility requirements. Programming is offered for six hours per day at East View and Tamarack Elementary Schools. If you are interested, please click the link below.
