Mission of the DCHS YSC:
To enhance students' ability to succeed in school by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote:

Assist students with successful transition into the adult world

Employment counseling, training, and placement

Reduce barriers to learning as a means to improve student academic success

Medical, dental, eye exams – Referrals, arrange transportation, assist in making appointments

Refer to local health agencies/assist in locating health resources needed by student/family

Assist student with basic needs – housing, utilities, food, etc. – locate appropriate resources/possibly assist financially

Collaborate with local resources and community organizations on behalf of DCHS

Work with students/family who have excessive absences – assess the situation and provide appropriate resources

Work with school organizations to implement annual Food Drive and Nickel War

Work with School Health Program to meet needs of students

Emergency clothing/Goodfellows

Home visits to assess student needs, facilitate positive relationship between school and family

Collaborate with SAP coordinators and guidance staff to implement needed support groups, provide speakers and materials

Work with staff to make students aware of post high school opportunities, and provide opportunities for students to explore a variety of employment available to them

Participate in ARC meetings as needed to assist in transition plans, and facilitate transition to the workforce or post secondary education
