Principal’s Journal
Wow! It is hard to believe this will be the last Week at a Glance for this school year. We are wrapping up another exciting and tremendous year at BMS. This time of year is very exciting and sad. We are all, students, teachers and staff, excited about the summer break. However, we have really grown close to our students this year as we have developed some lasting and binding relationships. We have watched our students grow (physically, emotionally and socially) throughout the year. We have pushed them and challenged them to learn and we have watched them develop new friendships. We have listened to their frustrations and their concerns and we have watched them swell with pride as they become young adults.
Now, we look forward to seeing our current 8th graders continue to grow and develop as high school students at Apollo High School. We look forward to seeing how much our current 6th & 7th graders have grown and matured after a summer of fun in the sun. Plus, we are looking forward to getting to know a whole new group of students who will be coming to us for the first time as sixth graders. Our first day with them will be on August 1st as we kick-off the beginning of another year with our annual Jump-Start program!
HAVE A FUN, RELAXING AND EXCITING SUMMER!!!!

DCPS Superintendent invites community to ‘Sit Down with Saylor’
Daviess County Public Schools Superintendent Owens Saylor has scheduled a series of informal community meetings to give parents and other interested individuals an opportunity to meet with him to share suggestions, questions, ideas and concerns.
“Sit Down with Saylor” meetings are planned once a month in various areas of the Daviess County community. The next meeting is set for Bill Kuegel’s dairy barn on Old Lyddane Road at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11.
Future meetings are planned at the Daviess County Public Library, other local restaurants and homes of DCPS families. The meeting times will also vary, giving people the opportunity to attend morning, noontime or evening events. A meeting schedule is posted on the district website at www.dcps.org and will be updated as future events are added, or individuals may contact the DCPS Central Office at 270-852-7000 or contact@dcps.org for more information.
“I look forward to meeting families and members of the entire Daviess County community,” Saylor said. “Our community shares the DCPS district’s great expectation in providing a world-class education for our children. I welcome open and honest dialogue, suggestions, questions or concerns anyone might have.”
The goal of “Sit Down with Saylor” meetings is to make the superintendent as accessible as possible at locations and times convenient to families in our community. The superintendent also welcomes input by calling his office at 270-852-7000 or by email, owens.saylor@daviess.kyschools.us
