Supt. Search and Selection Update

The DCPS Board of Education has contracted with the Kentucky Association of School Administrators to facilitate the search and selection process in hiring a new superintendent. Our Board is committed to ensuring that this process is as transparent and inclusive as possible. ALL stakeholders will have the opportunity to contribute to the conversation through Community Forums and surveys. Information about those events will be posted on our district website. Please continue to monitor www.dcps.org for updates.

The Board of Education has scheduled a series of "Meet and Greet" receptions and invites parents, families, staff and members of our community to visit the finalist candidates for the position of DCPS Superintendent. Reception schedule is as follows:

4 to 5 p.m. Monday, March 13 - Casey Allen

4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 - Travis Hamby

4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 - Matt Robbins

The first step in this process was to elect stakeholder representatives to serve on a Screening Committee. This committee is tasked with reviewing all applications for the superintendent position, confirming references and making recommendations to the Board of Education.

Make-up of the Screening Committee is mandated by legislation (KRS 160.352) to consist of:

  • One representative of the Board of Education;
  • One principal;
  • Two certified staff members;
  • One classified/support staff;
  • One parent.
  • One minority parent.

The responsibility of the Screening Committee was to review all applications for the superintendent position, confirm references and make recommendations to the Board of Education.

Nominations for PARENT representative, CERTIFIED STAFF representatives and CLASSIFIED STAFF representatives were accepted from Wednesday, Jan. 11, until Tuesday, Jan. 24.

DCPS PTO presidents met Jan. 30 to elect a PARENT representative to the Screening Committee.

DCPS certified and classified/support STAFF voted for their respective representatives in an election taking place at all district schools/sites from Jan. 31 to Feb. 3.

All DCPS parents were invited to elect a MINORITY PARENT representative at a meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8.

A community forum took place on 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the DCPS Learning Center, 1700 Parrish Plaza Drive, Owensboro. Everyone was invited to share thoughts about characteristics they seek in a Superintendent.
